Red-Headed Woodpecker closeup, watch him go! The Rhododendron Garden inside of Point Defiance Park is one of the most beautiful garden parks in Washington State. During the early spring around Mother's Day the multi colored flowers, and Washington State's Flower, brings a splash of color against the canvas of dark and dense forest greenery. As you hike throughout the park during this time of year, you know that summer isn't far behind. Early blooms of salmon berries and the fiddle head ferns are just opening up. But wear your hiking boots, because during this time, the trails are often muddy.
